For the Weekend Warriors, Weirdos & Whackjobs - Issue #44
It may not be a real carnival, but it sure is a ride
This week, we saw more digital evidence discussions with Justin Seitz publishing a piece, The Evidence Carnival: The Pastor's Hitman—a twisted plot of a man doing his best to cover his infidelities. Why he didn't just go to therapy is a mystery we are still trying to solve.
Of course, if you haven't seen our teaser making its rounds on social media and beyond... we have something really cool coming very soon
What MJ Watched
They Called Him Mostly Harmless (HBO) - A true-crime documentary directed by Patricia E. Gillespie about the search to identify the body of Vance John "Vaejor" Rodriguez, also known as Mostly Harmless, Denim, and Ben Bilemy, who died in his tent in Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida on July 23, 2018. The caller described him as unnaturally thin, discolored, and alone. Several hikers recalled encountering him within the eight months before his death, but they only knew him by his trail name. The documentary explores the lingering questions around Rodriguez, the search to ID him, and the legacy his mysterious death has left, touching upon the ethics and personalities of the "true crime community" as well as exploring trail culture, the nuances of modern life, and loneliness.
Thank you to everyone who fought the good fight alongside us this week. Keep at it - we’re making progress!
