took a break from old-timey corpse mysteries and instead brought us some good news out of Massachusetts. It seems a judge has cranked the scrutiny valve open and is allowing the inspection of cold case police files.This is a Big Deal™ in our world of investigations and advocacy work as we are frequently stymied by the “protected police methods” response, or one of its cross-eyed cousins. A disgraced streamer, having lost his monetization and sponsors, is looking to make his comeback by spending a night in a haunted house. While the horror trope-meter is already running high, I assure you this movie is as unique to found footage as Shaun of the Dead was to zombies.
Full of laughs, scares, twists, turns and some incredibly on-the-nose truths about our culture of consumption — this one has it all.
I can’t recommend Deadstream enough, go watch it while you can.
Go pour something warm, put your feet up and chill, just for a little bit, this weekend.
