For the Weekend Warriors, Weirdos & Whackjobs - Issue #20
We got murderbots and poison trees, what more do us nerds need?
A glorious week, with Spring finally arriving in many parts of Canada, where most of us call home. The cockles of our hearts were warmed even further by our own Somebody Else’s Lawyer: No, Your Tree is Poisonous - a post that covers how lawyers can begin to think about open source intelligence and investigations in their own cases.
Our volunteer advocacy team have been busy working on cases in California, retrieving troves of FOIA documents, investigating baddies and we have more cases coming into the wrongful conviction pipeline very soon that we hope to start sharing with you all soon.
What Justin Read This Week
The Murderbot Diaries Book One: All Systems Red by Martha Wells (Amazon) - this was a recommendation from our own guest writer, Shafik Punja, and it was an excellent one. Written from the perspective of a murderous, bionic, sarcastic asshole of a robot, it is both a gripping science fiction ride and deeply funny. I can’t put it down and have no doubt I’ll be working my way through the rest of the series.
What Justin Listened to This Week
The Agent Podcast - another recommendation from fellow investigator Sarah G., this podcast is one of the best espionage podcasts I have listened to in a long time. It can also be gutwrenching, heartbreaking and will definitely make your butt pucker more than a few times. This is a must-listen.
