shone a light on the process of authentication in “Can I be real with you for a second?” I was so excited to have Some Lawyer back in our drafts, I read the piece six times. You should, too. What Kennedy Recommends
Adolescence is one of Netflix’s most harrowing and gripping releases. With every episode filmed in a single continuous shot, the series pulls viewers into the unravelling world of 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who is accused of murdering his classmate, Katie.
As I watched, particularly episode three, I was struck by how unnerved I was. The initial idea came to its creator after a string of distressing violent crimes. In 2021, 12-year-old Ava White was fatally stabbed by a 14-year-old boy in Graham’s home city of Liverpool. In 2023, 15-year-old Elianne Andam was attacked with a kitchen knife by 17-year-old Hassan Sentamu outside a Croydon shopping centre.
The series is an uncomfortable immersive experience that speaks deeply to how society has evolved and how youth are enduring the world around them—primarily online—with increasing difficulty.
Did I enjoy it? Rough word in this context. Do I consider it a must-watch? Yes. For both the subject matter and the technical genius.
Reset, refocus, and stay sharp—bullshit never sleeps, and neither do we. (Yes, we do, it’s actually our favourite thing to do).
Much love,
