For the Weekend Warriors, Weirdos & Whackjobs - Issue #78
Odd fellows, odd buildings and a weekend so close we can taste it.
In the midst of a tornado of activity, somehow, the shadowy

Horror in Architecture by Joshua Comaroff + Ong Ker-Shing
This book was a random discovery in our local McNally Robinson, and I couldn’t resist buying it. Old, big, symmetric (and asymmetric, frankly) buildings just plain freak me out. Plus, I’m a guy who digs horror. This is the perfect mashup.
Horror in Architecture is a dense, deeply researched text on the horror of buildings and how the horror genre is woven throughout the buildings we live among and vice versa. I had never read an architecture book previously, but this book gave me a deeper appreciation not only of my favourite genre of media but taught me to gaze differently at buildings in popular culture and around me at home. A truly unique text that is worth adding to your bookshelf.
Stuff your pipe to the brim, pour something warm, and ignore everything this weekend. Including us.
Much love,
Your Bullshit Hunting Crew
