Hibernation season is upon us. Forage some snacks, get your finest sweatsuit in the dryer (washed is neither here nor there, as long as it’s dry and warm).
This week we’re putting the finishing touches on our new podcast, Witchgrass: A Small Town Investigation, which will hit your inbox and feeds next week. We’ve been working on this one almost as long as Bullshit Hunting has been here, and we hope you’ll like it. It will feature most of the voices you read here, bring life to an investigation that deserves more than a few articles, and teach you a thing or two about how we do what we do.
Stay tuned.
What We Wrote
This week, Justin shines a light on hypocrisy within CSAM trials. While copying CSAM is forbidden for even trial prep, prosecutors have played these materials in open court, a practice that re-victimizes children, violates federal law, and undermines every supposed safeguard in place. Take a look at a clear case for Rules for Thee But Not For Me.
Out to paid folks and hitting all inboxes next week is A Ghost Hunt. Kennedy walks us through the mystery of a beloved place that went from not haunted to suddenly spooky in the course of a renovation. You’ll join a historical exploration of the area and draw your own conclusions in this tale of strange energy and hydraulic dams.
What Justin Recommends
Video | Esoterica on Ghosts - One of my favourite YouTube channels, and content producers, Dr. Justin Sledge, with his Esoterica channel, has another banger of a video on the history and mystery of ghosts. I can’t recommend his content enough.
Book | Ghost Story by Peter Straub (1979) - A slow-burning, complex horror novel set in a wintry small town in Illinois that sees locals doing battle with themselves and their pasts. I found this a dense read, often like it was slow and yet, hundreds of pages continued to fly past, and the reward is worth it. An excellent spoiler-free review by Nerdy Kathi can be watched here.
Video | Russel Vought: The Shadow President by Andy Kroll (ProPublica) - A shocking look at how Russel Vought’s history in the US government, his architecting of Project 2025, and his ruthless budget management have brought us to this moment in history. A must-watch.
Alright, that’ll have you locked and loaded for a two-day minimum. Next week, we’ll have more content to blast at your ear and eye holes. Wiggle your fingers, stretch your lower back, unclench your jaw and have a good frickin’ time this weekend.
Until next time,
Your Bullshit Hunting Crew
