For the Weekend Warriors, Weirdos & Whackjobs - Issue #106
Hoping we find you in High Spirits
Checking in, hope you’re hanging in there this week, whatever that looks like for you. Alas, our little collection of things we thought you might like to check out as we slide into the weekend together.
Introducing our most scientifically rigorous series yet: High Spirits
It’s raw, it’s real. It’s Justin and Kennedy telling each other ghost stories. No real research. No notes. Canada’s finest legal green and vibes, questionable vibes. Paid subscribers only, because frankly, no one else should hear this. Volume 1 is available for anyone looking to join a digital campfire with fewer mosquitoes and more giggling.
What We Wrote
To all subscribers, it’s the finale in the Commonwealth v. Russ. Some Lawyer unravels the evidence, re-examines a century-old affidavit, and confronts a verdict built on contested testimony. Don’t miss the explosive end, Dynamiting the Echo Chimney. Long-form series are a labour of love that few can do so well with such attention to detail. We’re proud this one has a home with us.
To our paid subscribers, there’s freakin’ Ghosts in these Graphs. Justin takes you through the meticulous but valuable process of building out a knowledge base. In this case, it’s knowledge of the occult and the supernatural, but what you extract from this article can be applied to most any genre. Take a read!
What Justin Recommends
Book | Scream: Chilling Adventures in the Science of Fear by Margee Kerr - Sociologist, Margee Kerr, takes us from the edge of the CN Tower (I had to take a break at that part, phewf) to the darkest basements of some of the scariest haunted houses (paid and otherwise) in an effort to explain the science and power of fear. Margee weaves hard science, journalism and continually makes herself vulnerable to the reader by baring her own fears, mistakes, and tragedies. I really, truly, cannot recommend this book enough. Go get it.
Movie | Weapons - Let’s just say when my homie, Snake, said we were going to watch Weapons together, I truly had no idea what I was in for. Before the morning light, I had actual, foot-thrashing nightmares. I was scolded by my wife. I was warned that perhaps Snake is not a good influence on me. I watch a lot of horror, and this one is a ride that is terror-to-beat for 2026. Good, friggin’ lord. 10/10.
We hope you enjoy gathering up some of these reads, watches and listens and taking some down time this weekend.
Until next time,
Your Bullshit Hunting Crew
